THE NRL TWEET's ROUND 8 REVIEW
NRLTweet Game Summary: Brisbane are playing superb footy right now. Canterbury have a crack but Hannant and Lockyer drive Broncos to 20-12 win and rack up 7 wins in a row.
Injuries: Grant Millington (Elbow)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Matthew Duncan
4 - Ben Hannant, BRI
Really fired up for the clash vs his old club. Was a very busy performance. Ran with purpose and bent the line and defended well. A Great effort.
2 - Darren Lockyer, BRI
The Master doing what he does best, Steered the team around all night and his kicking game was spot on.
1 - Gerard Beale, BRI
The 2nd choice fullback continues to impress. Made plenty of ground with every kick return. Wasn't as flashy as his opposite number but outpointed him over the 80 minutes.
Judge: Warrick Nicolson
4 - Ben Hannant, BRI
May have secured his spot in the Queensland team with this performance which came after a strong past fortnight of form. Is making Brisbane's set prop rotation concept a thing of the past (quite rightly) as he's just eating up the work and the minutes. Made a fine break to setup Lockyer's opening try.
2 - Darren Lockyer, BRI
Although no one can deny Lockyer looked out of sorts in the two seasons following his knee surgery in 2007 - the last 18 months have been vintage Lockyer. Once again he directed things calmly and his kicking game was top shelf. Does he really have to retire?
1 - Ben Barba, CBY
The best player for the Bulldogs by a country mile. Made a couple of errors but he is a constant threat in attack. It's just a shame the Canterbury game plan doesn't involve their other strike weapons nearly enough.
NRLTweet Game Summary: Have we seen the turning point for Chris Sandow? He's instrumental in the Rabbitohs 31-12 come from behind win over Cronulla in the wet at ANZ.
Injuries: Roy Asotasi (Wrist), Nathan Gardner (Re-injured Ankle), John Williams (Ankle)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Ben Hoese
4 - Chris Sandow, SOU
Single handedly won the game for the Bunnies. Very strong running and kicking game. Tore the defence to pieces.
2 - Jeremy Smith, CRO
Picked up a heavy work load in a depleted team. Played the full 80 and made 40 tackles including some crucial line defence.
1 - Dave Taylor, SOU
Good running line and support play. Used his weight when it counted, but still managed to step like a butterfly.
Judge: Matt Spillane
4 - Chris Sandow, SOU
Career best game easily for Sandow, collecting himself a career best 19 points as well.
2 - Dave Taylor, SOU
Ran like a forward should for the first time in a while and his support play was good too.
1 - John Sutton, SOU
Showed glimpses of his best form and his kicking game worked nicely in tandem with Sandow's.

SATURDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL5:35pm (Local) 30 April @ Skilled Park, Gold Coast.
NRLTweet Game Summary: David Mead's 1st try of the season gives the Titans a 24-13 victory over the Roosters at Skilled. Roosters drop to 2-6, Titans now 3-5.
Injuries: Esi Tonga (Head Knock), Luke Bailey (Head Knock), Daniel Conn (Head Knock)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Michael McLucas
4 - William Zillman, GLD
Really making a good go of the #6 jersey and in this game scored 2 tries and with Prince and Friend gave the Titans good direction.
2 - Nathan Friend, GLD
Titans fans would be more and more disappointed each week that he is heading across the Tasman next season. 44 tackles and ever threatening out of dummy half.
1 - Mitchell Pearce, SYD
Did his best to keep the Roosters in the game. Just didn't get the support nor luck that he needed.
Judge: Justin Davies
4 - William Zillman, GLD
He's settling into the five eighth role and his sheer speed was key to their win.
2 - Preston Campbell, GLD
Just seems to get better with age, was involved in everything and is where he should be at fullback.
1 - Nate Myles, SYD
In a disappointing year for the Roosters, he's been a rare shining light, always putting his hand up for a run or tackling his butt off.

NRLTweet Game Summary: Melbourne click back into gear after an off week and crush the Knights 42-12 in Melbourne. Kurt Gidley's arm injury the big news.
Injuries: Kurt Gidley (Arm/Shoulder)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Rob Neilsen
4 - Cameron Smith, MEL
Real captain's knock, bringing the team to life in the second half with a perfect goal kicking record, and some brilliant defence!
2 - Bryan Norrie, MEL
Smart burrowing try early in the match, and made some big metres in attack.
Smart burrowing try early in the match, and made some big metres in attack.
1 - Anthony Quinn, MEL
Had a strong game out wide against his former side, pouncing on a lucky bounce to score a try to take the lead for the side.
Judge: Greg Delaney
4 - Kevin Proctor, MEL
When the game was there to be won Proctor stood up and was a handful for the Knights edge defenders, 1 try assist and offloaded at will.
2 - Cameron Smith, MEL
Controlled the ruck for the Storm like he always does and got the forwards rolling along giving the backs plenty of room to work with.
1 - Gareth Widdop, MEL
Outstanding game for the former fullback, is shining in the #6 and takes a lot of pressure of Cronk.
NRLTweet Game Summary: North Queensland just keep getting better - this time they hold off a fast-finishing Manly 22-20 in Townsville. Matt Bowen sensational.
Injuries: Aaron Payne (Arm), Gavin Cooper (Head Knock), Kieran Foran (Quad/Ankle), Jason King (Ribs)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Haylen Southon
4 - Matthew Bowen, NQL
Scored 2 blistering tries and was dangerous of kick returns including a 60 metre kick return in the first half.
2 - William Hopoate, MAN
Scored a try. Was a constant threat in attack, and had another sound game at fullback.
1 - Johnathan Thurston, NQL
Near perfect with the goal kicking duties. Laid on a brilliant pass for the Cowboys last try. Great general play kicking.
Judge: Dane Neville
4 - Matthew Bowen, NQL
Do I dare say he is back to his best? Involved in everything for the Cowboys.
2 - Johnathan Thurston, NQL
Put in another great game, kicking and passing game just too good.
1 - William Hopoate, MAN
The kid was once again a handful for the defence and set up Robertson's try with a sublime pass.

NRLTweet Game Summary: The Warriors pull away early in the 2nd half to beat the Panthers 26-18 at Mt Smart. Lance Hohaia puts his hand up for Kiwi selection.
Injuries: Yileen Gordon (Neck)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Craig Buchanan
4 - Kevin Locke, WAR
Had a blinder with his 2nd try an 80m runaway effort just reward for his hard work all over the park.
2 - Lance Hohaia, WAR
Kept popping up in all the right places and broke the Panthers line a few times.
1 - Ukuma Ta'ai, WAR
Solid under the high ball at restarts and had some barnstorming runs.
Judge: Warrick Nicolson
4 - Lance Hohaia, WAR
Probably secured his Kiwi Test berth with his performance and was particularly dangerous in the 1st half. He's a player who can turn a half chance into a break and it's hard to see him giving up his spot again this season.
2 - Feleti Mateo, WAR
Ivan Cleary may have finally found the switch to turn Mateo's game on as he played beautifully on the edges - getting involved with 20+ runs, off-loading at will and making 25 tackles.
1 - Petero Civoniceva, PEN
Rolled forward in the 1st half and secured his Kangaroos Jersey with a standout display in a team that was well beaten in the end. His leg drive after contact was the feature of his game.

NRLTweet Game Summary: Canberra capitulate to 1-7 on the season as the Wests Tigers led by the class of Farah and Marshall tear them apart 49-12 in Canberra.
Injuries: Matt Orford (Leg), David Shillington (Pectoral)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Warrick Nicolson
4 - Robbie Farah, WTG
His most dominant performance of the season which suggests he's finally managing his groin injury. He's just a class above his opposition and he carved the Raiders up with smarts and skills.
2 - Benji Marshall, WTG
Rebounded from two poor weeks with a sublime performance that complimented Farah beautifully. Back into gear ahead of the ANZAC Test.
1 - Robert Lui, WTG
Was excellent alongside his superstar team-mates and really helped put the Raiders to the sword when the game was won. Very good.
Judge: Matthew Vickers
4 - Benji Marshall, WTG
Awesome display; it was the Benji that gets Gus and Rabs excited that we saw today... had they been commentating on the game.
2 - Chris Heighington, WTG
Has stood up as the forward leader in the absence of so many. Strong in both attack and defence.
1 - Robbie Farah, WTG
Without his outstanding vision and service from dummy half Marshall and Lui could not have put on the show they did today.

NRLTweet Game Summary: St.George-Illawarra weren't just a level above Parramatta this arvo at Kogarah - they towered above the Eels, beating them easily 30-0.
Injuries: Mark Gasnier (Shin), Dean Young (Knee), Nathan Hindmarsh (Rested or Hurt)
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Maria Tsialis
4 - Jamie Soward, STI
The amount of times Parramatta players were left clutching at this man’s shorts was incredible. Took the line on with great results.
2 - Mark Gasnier, STI
They pitted the rookie up against him and let him run. Gasnier looks to be getting back to his best, made a host half chances with his bamboozling footwork.
1 - Ben Hornby, STI
Doesn’t get as many accolades as his more fancied team-mates, but does the job for the Dragons quietly every week. Scored two tries to boot, something that hasn’t happened too much in his career.
Judge: Matt Spillane
4 - Jamie Soward, STI
Did what every expert has wanted him to do and run the ball more with great results. 3 linebreaks which all resulted in tries. Must be close to a NSW jersey.
2 - Mark Gasnier, STI
Received plenty of early ball and gave the Eels left side nightmares with his 4 offloads.
1 - Michael Weyman, STI
Getting better each week coming back from injury. Topped the tackle count for the Dragons with 32 and ran for 122 metres.
