ROUND SIX OF THE NRL PREMIERSHIP SEASON 2010
FRIDAY
4-24Tigers lost to Bulldogs
Post Game Tweet: #NRL FNF Recap Gotta love that Wests Tigers defence - a truly great effort. But Bulldogs forwards stand up to be counted in well deserved 24-4 win.
What we said Pre-Game: Bulldogs have had issues containing the opposition's pack in recent week - and defensively they are really struggling. That being said their attack still looks potent - but the Tigers still have Benji Marshall, Robbie Farah, Chris Lawrence & Lote Tuqiri... on second thoughts, why am I picking the Dogs?
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Bulldogs by 6 = CORRECT
6-19Titans lost to Dragons
Post Game Tweet: #NRL FNF Recap Dragons win with defence 19-6 at Skilled. Boring way to win but so effective in the regular season. Titans outplayed at home a rarity.
What we said Pre-Game: The Titans got the points over a fading Storm team last Friday night at Skilled but the Dragons will have more in their legs this week after dismissing the Broncos easily on the same night. I just don't see enough potency in the Titans attack to beat a Dragons unit that despite some injuries - get the job done. Dragons away.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Dragons by 8 = CORRECT
SATURDAY
36-18Knights defeated Cowboys
Post Game Tweet: #NRL Sat Recap: Knights welcome Kurt Gidley back with 36-18 win over the Cowboys at EnergyAustralia. Newcastle winger Cooper Vuna bags a hat-trick.
What we said Pre-Game: Newcastle are specials this week... providing Kurt Gidley gets through 80 minutes in his comeback from a major hamstring injury. The Cowboys lack quality in a major way without Thurston, Bowen, O'Donnell or Payne for this one and the Knights weren't terrible against the Bunnies last week. Knights at home by quite a few.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Knights by 10 = CORRECT
36-6Roosters defeated Raiders
Post Game Tweet: #NRL Sat Recap: How bad can one team be when errors form the backbone of their performance? Ask Canberra who are ripped 36-6 by the Roosters at SFS.
What we said Pre-Game: Canberra were excellent against Parramatta but need to back it up when they visit the Roosters at the SFS. Ball control was the key to the Raiders win - but the Roosters are a lethal team with a fair share of possession, so if Canberra's handling goes out the window - so will their chances of victory. Take the Roosters at home in a close one.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Roosters by 4 = CORRECT
SUNDAY
12-40Warriors lost to Panthers
Post Game Tweet: #NRL Sun Recap: Penrith improve on last week's victory with a comprehensive 40-12 defeat of Warriors at Mt Smart. Matt Elliott will be very pleased.
What we said Pre-Game: Very tough game to pick given the Warriors are finding ways to win games they lost in 2009 and the Panthers are riding the coat-tails of their best players at the moment. If the Warriors had Simon Mannering, Manu Vatuvei and Steven Price - you'd be confident in them but it is the home ground advantage and the feeling that the Panthers may not travel well that makes my tip the Warriors.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Warriors by 6 = INCORRECT
44-16Broncos defeated Sharks
Post Game Tweet: #NRL Sun Recap: Broncos deliver the Sharks another beating... win 44-16 at Suncorp. Darren Lockyer everywhere for Brisbane as they carved up.
What we said Pre-Game: Brisbane get their star power back for this game with Folau, Yow Yeh and Parker all likely starters. The Sharks were terrible against Manly - a bad sign when you consider the positive vibes that came from their gutsy win over Parramatta in Round 4. Lockyer has played well in a beaten side the last two weeks and with some options to pass to in attack - go the Broncos.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Broncos by 1 = CORRECT
22-8Eels defeated Rabbitohs
Post Game Tweet: #NRL Sun Recap: Parramatta's 22-8 win over South Sydney is overshadowed (& was ruined) by the deplorable 'standard procedure' enforced by the referees.
What we said Pre-Game: Danger game if you picked the Rabbitohs like I did. Roy Asotasi and Michael Crocker may not play and the suspension of Ben Lowe is a loss for the Rabbits. Still the Eels look short of creativity in the halves and Jarryd Hayne hasn't been able to spark them to a victory since Round 2. This is a game that John Sutton needs to stand up and win if he's got any dreams of playing for NSW in the future.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Rabbitohs by 10 = INCORRECT
MONDAY
16-18Storm lost to Sea Eagles
Post Game Tweet: #NRL MNF Recap: Manly's 16-0 lead in as many minutes holds up as Storm's ball control in 2nd half wastes huge possession advantage. Manly win 18-16.
What we said Pre-Game: Melbourne looked old and slow vs the Gold Coast and got run down. But they've had the best part of 10 days to recover and face a Manly side who were great against the Sharks. This game is at Etihad so expect Billy Slater to score 2 or 3 tries and watch for Greg Inglis to finally wake from his early season slumber with a huge game. Storm for mine.
> NRL Tweet's Prediction: Storm by 2 = INCORRECT
