FRIDAY NIGHT FOOTBALL
08
              V
06
7:45pm (Local) 19 August @ AAMI Park, Melbourne.
NRLTweet Game Summary: Not really sure what to make of Storm's 8-6 win over the Dragons... Melbourne were very good, Saints improved but was left unimpressed.
Injuries: Sika Manu (Groin), Bronx Goodwin (Knee), Beau Scott (Hammy)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Warrick Nicolson
4 - Cameron Smith, MEL
Best player in the NRL this season. For week in week out quality he is unmatched in 2011. That's a big call but the way he played both hooker and halfback for the Storm in Cooper Cronk's absence - and Melbourne didn't look any different than normal - isn't a slight on Cronk (he must be there in September for them to win the title) - but more a tribute to how influential Smith was in the 8-6 win.
2 - Billy Slater, MEL
His 200th game saw him heavily involved and willing to put his body on the line defensively. In attack he missed Cronk more than the Storm's game plan seemed too - if that makes sense. Primed for a big September.
1 - Gareth Widdop, MEL
Didn't play that much of a bigger role than normal but ran the ball superbly in the opening stages. Has been sensational as a rookie this season in a complimentary role.
Judge: Matt Spillane
4 - Gareth Widdop, MEL
Had a WOW of a game filling in for the injured Cooper Cronk. Made two line breaks and had an astute kicking game at halfback.
2 - Cameron Smith, MEL
Typical Cameron Smith performance. 41 Tackles and was always a handful in and around the ruck.
1 - Mitch Rein, STI
Strong game from the rookie rake. Made some important tackles and was impressive around the ruck.

24
7:45pm (Local) 19 August @ ANZ Stadium, Sydney.
NRLTweet Game Summary: South Sydney... wow. The Cowboys slip into the pretender category after blowing a 12 point lead with 10 minutes left. Bunnies win 4th straight 26-24 in Golden Point.
Injuries: Nathan Merritt (Quad - Late withdrawal), Dave Taylor (Hip)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Michael McLucas
4 - Chris Sandow, SOU
Came up with two big plays late in the game to tie things up and send it to Golden Point. His intercept was massive and his sideline conversion sublime. Tempted to give the points to Issac Luke for his Gold Logie nomination worthy effort.
2 - Matt Bowen, NQL
Was the main reason the Cowboys had the lead late into the second half. Very safe at the back.
1 - Tariq Sims, NQL
Great performance off the bench, scored a try and made an impact once he was injected.
Judge: Nigel Wilbow
4 - Chris Sandow, SOU
The intercept that set up the final try to give him the sideline conversion opportunity is why Parramatta have paid him the big bucks. Solid kicking game and he made the difference late in the match.
2 - Michael Crocker, SOU
Made 39 tackles and most of them hurt the big North Queensland pack. Just ask James Tamou.
1 - Johnathan Thurston, NQL
Still looks short of his best after returning from injury two weeks ago. Had the Cowboys in a position to win the game but couldn't apply the killer blow.

5:35pm (Local) 20 August @ Skilled Park, Gold Coast.
NRLTweet Game Summary: Two ordinary teams produce an ordinary game, won 26-18 by the slightly less ordinary Gold Coast 26-18 over Canberra.
Injuries: Danny Galea (Eye), Mick Picker (Head)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Greg Delaney
4 - Greg Bird, GLD
Imagine if he had played with two good hands instead of one? Set up a try, made 167 metres and had 32 tackles. The reason the Titans won the game.
2 - Shaun Fensom, CAN
Don't want to think of what the score might have been without his contribution of 60 tackles and 126 metres. Outstanding in a poor Canberra effort.
1 - Matthew White, GLD
Stood up in Luke Bailey's absence and took the fight to the Canberra pack. Made hard metres up the middle and finished with 28 tackles.
Judge: Dane Neville
4 - Greg Bird, GLD
Played tough all night, setting up the opening try and finishing with a huge workload (22 runs and 32 tackles) despite a broken hand.
2 - Shaun Fensom, CAN
Tried very hard in a beaten side. Made 60 tackles and 18 hitups.
1 - Matt Srama, GLD
This kid is going to be a really good player. Very sharp out of dummy half and is a tenacious defender.

7:35pm (Local) 20 August @ Centrebet Stadium, Penrith.
NRLTweet Game Summary: The Warriors lead 16-0 at halftime and despite a fightback by Penrith, the visitors close it out 26-12 with Kevin Locke the star.
Injuries: Michael Jennings (Shoulder), Micheal Luck (Shoulder)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Craig Buchanan
4 - Kevin Locke, WAR
Excelled in attack and defence. Made a few incisive runs, stunning covering tackles and made things happen for the Warriors to get a big road win that put them into the Top 4.
2 - Shaun Johnson, WAR
His 90m try from a Kevin Locke off-load was brilliant. Is making better decisions every week.
1 - Bradley Tighe, PEN
Scored a try that gave the Panthers a sniff but it wasn't enough. Defended very well.
Judge: Matthew Duncan
4 - Kevin Locke, WAR
Outstanding game. Such an exciting player to watch. Looked like he would create something every time he touched the ball. Made a number of key defensive plays.
2 - Simon Mannering, WAR
A real captain's knock. Defended solidly and topped the tackle count in the process.
1 - Shaun Johnson, WAR
Continues to impress. Showed flashes of brilliance but also made a number of shrewd halfback decisions.

25
7:35pm (Local) 20 August @ Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney.
NRLTweet Game Summary: The Sharks had this won... until they didn't. A freak deflection off the posts gifts the Roosters the match-winner late and Sydney win 36-25.
Injuries: Sam Tagataese (Head), Paul Gallen (Calf)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Ben Hoese
4 - Jake Friend, SYD
The damaging hooker has been a strong force in a week team and this week he was worth his weight in gold. His running game and off-loads caused the Sharks issues and he bagged a double as well.
2 - Jeremy Smith, CRO
With Gallen not 100%, Smith has lifted his game to help carry the load. Very strong in defence and attack.
1 - Paul Gallen, CRO
Is struggling with a calf injury but still managed to run for 162m. Lost some points for defensive errors that may have cost Cronulla the game.
Judge: Craig Buchanan
4 - Jake Friend, SYD
Scored a double, tackled like a machine and produced a few handy off-loads in a Man of the Match display.
2 - Braith Anasta, SYD
His calm head and good option taking helped the team stay in the game.
1 - Paul Gallen, CRO
As always in everything like a good skipper should be. Made some very good runs and defended well. Survived a nasty high shot from Jared Waerea-Hargreaves.

SUNDAY AFTERNOON FOOTBALL

16
2:05pm (Local) 21 August @ Brookvale Oval, Brookvale.
NRLTweet Game Summary: Manly and Canterbury play out an entertaining game at Brookie with the Sea Eagles finishing 27-16 victors. Canterbury's season almost over.
Injuries: Dene Halatau (Knee - late withdrawal), Trent Hodkinson (Leg)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Warrick Nicolson
4 - Daly Cherry-Evans, MAN
With due respect to the other contenders - Cherry-Evans IS the Rookie of the Year by some length. His involvement level for a rookie halfback is sensational and the way he looks to run first is very rare for a genuine playmaking halfback. He's good enough already to get Manly to a Grand Final.
2 - Jamie Lyon, MAN
Made a number of key contributions during the game, including setting up the opening try and scoring what proved to be the match-sealer. His goal-kicking was on song as well which was key.
1 - Ben Barba, CBY
Yes he may have dropped a Jamal Idris pass that could have put the Dogs in front but the fact Canterbury were in the game had a lot to do with Barba's (and Idris') influence. Johnny on the spot for yet another try.
Judge: Maria Tsialis
4 - Jamie Lyon, MAN
He plays so well every week that it is easy to forget how instrumental he is to Manly's success. His pass to David Williams to set up the opening try was impeccable.
2 - Daly Cherry-Evans, MAN
If DCE doesn't win Rookie of the Year, the world has gone mad. Once again he controlled Manly's performance with an excellent kicking game.
1 - Joel Romelo, CBY
Has been a revelation in the latter stages of the season. Puts everything into his runs and his defence and just looks like he's having the time of his life playing first grade.

3:05pm (Local) 21 August @ Sydney Football Stadium, Sydney.
NRLTweet Game Summary: The Wests Tigers toy with Parramatta early, clock off for a nap, then switch back on late to beat the Eels 31-12 at SFS and move into 6th.
Injuries: Gareth Ellis (Groin - late withdrawal), Robert Lui (Thigh), Reni Maitua (Hip)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Matthew Duncan
4 - Blake Ayshford, WTG
Proved to be a real handful for the Parramatta defence and was rewarded with a double.
2 - Benji Marshall, WTG
Running out of things to say about this fella. Freakish. The Eels simply didn't have an answer to his bag of tricks.
1 - Liam Fulton, WTG
A busy effort and he never stopped trying in defence. Always does a lot of good work off the ball.
Judge: Ben Hoese
4 - Benji Marshall, WTG
Has been accused of having the occasional off game but when he is on - he is really on. This was one of those days. Scored one try, set up another and was superb all over the park.
2 - Blake Ayshford, WTG
Scored two tries, set up another and was devastating on the right edge.
1 - Tim Moltzen, WTG
The Tigers might be starting to rue the day they let him go... and he hasn't even left yet. Solid performance at the back, making a few line breaks and popping up in support all afternoon.

7:05pm (Local) 22 August @ AusGrid Stadium, Newcastle.
NRLTweet Game Summary: Brisbane lock up a Top 3 spot with a 26-6 win over Newcastle at AusGrid. Knights just wedged open the playoff door for Souths and Bulldogs.
Injuries: Matt Hilder (Head), Junior Sa'u (Ankle), Justin Hodges (Hammy)
GAME STATS
2011 @NRLTweet Player of the Year Votes
Judge: Matthew Vickers
4 - Corey Parker, BRI
The 'Dream Team' King was superb. Played 80 yet again, ran with purpose, kept off-loading and was solid defensively. Rare off-night with the boot however.
2 - Darren Lockyer, BRI
Outstanding control of the game. When you see him perform like this it is hard to believe he is giving the game away at the end of 2011. Surely he could go around again?
1 - Jharal Yow Yeh, BRI
His intercept try was the turning point - putting Brisbane just out of reach of the Knights. He backed himself in defence despite Justin Hodges going off at halftime and the Knights throwing plenty at him as a result.
Judge: Haylen Southon
4 - Sam Thaiday, BRI
Set a solid platform all night for the Broncos. Made multiple hitups in sets and was a leader on the field before getting a rest.
2 - Corey Parker, BRI
Despite a few errors, Parker produced another mammoth statistical effort at lock. Off-loaded at will at times.
1 - Akuila Uate, NEW
Newcastle's best despite a some mistakes. Took valuable hit-ups to relieve his forwards and scored a fine try off a scrum move to get the Knights back in it before halftime.
