State of Origin 2012: Queensland Official Game 2 Team Analysis

STATE OF ORIGIN 2012
OFFICIAL QUEENSLAND GAME 2 ORIGIN TEAM
By W D Nicolson, June 5, 2012
Queensland Coach Mal Meninga has made no changes to the 17-man squad that won Game 1 but he has made two changes in the support positions with Ben Barba and Corey Parker added as extra men and Daly Cherry-Evans and Dane Nielsen missing out.

If Queensland win Game 2 in Sydney - they'll make it SEVEN straight State of Origin Series victories.

Game 2 is on Wednesday June 14 at ANZ Stadium in Sydney against NSW.

The Official QLD team was named at 1:00pm Tuesday June 5.

QUICK HIT POSITIONAL ANALYSIS:
This squad has won SIX straight Origin series and won Game 1 this year to be within a win of SEVEN straight series wins... suffice to say it's still pretty good heading into Game 2! Barba won't play but Parker could be a late inclusion if Matthew Scott is unavailable due to personal reasons and David Shillington or Ben Hannant would start.

State of Origin 2012: NSW Official Game 2 Team Analysis

STATE OF ORIGIN 2012
OFFICIAL NSW GAME 2 ORIGIN TEAM
By W D Nicolson, June 3, 2012
NSW Coach Ricky Stuart has made a forced and unforced change to the Blues heading into Game 2 of the 2012 State of Origin Series v Queensland to be played on Wednesday June 13 at ANZ Stadium in Sydney.

The official NSW Team for Game 2 was named at 5pm Sunday June 3.

Likely starting team below.

Luke LEWIS
Ben CREAGH
Anthony WATMOUGH
Coach: Ricky STUART.
GRADE: B+
QUICK HIT POSITIONAL ANALYSIS:
Well no one is shocked to see the State of Origin career of Jamie Buhrer over after 7 minutes, but Ben Creagh's held his spot in the team and that's slightly more surprising given Creagh's lack of impact in Game 1.
Creagh is joined on the bench by Game 1 starter Luke Lewis, who makes way for the move of Paul Gallen to lock and the inclusion of Penrith prop Tim Grant - who has been huge for the Panthers since returning from injury recently - but how Aaron Woods also didn't force his way in given he has been in even better form for the Tigers (and at the expense of Creagh) is the biggest question Ricky Stuart needs to address.
Anthony Watmough has also been included after being omitted for 'injury' reasons in Game 1, with Tony Williams missing due to a back injury.
There are no other changes, with Todd Carney needing a huge game to keep the series alive.

NRL ROUND 13 TIPPING PREVIEW
By W D Nicolson

Well loyal visitors to www.wdnicolson.com, you are very lucky to get the most interesting (can't really claim comprehensive anymore but we will declare it the most interesting) NRL preview on the net this week, as the writer is in the midst of a move and quite frankly doesn't think spending good packing time writing up a preview is smart business.

But I'll soldier on and deliver some Late Mail and insight that you probably are better served listening to for a while on our newest Podcast - just 53 minutes long with extra GT tips - and thanking me later.

Some very tough games on the picking schedule this week... good luck to us all.

Bench: J Buhrer, J Galuvao, D Lussick, G Rose, V Mauro.
[Team Changes - Steve Matai spends two weeks on the sidelines for a regulation Matai tackle, so Dean Whare moves to left centre and Michael Oldfield comes back onto the right wing. Jason King is named to return at prop, while Anthony Watmough must be in some doubt after not being able to run the ball when he returned to the field against Penrith. Manly have named a 5 man bench. ]

STI: B Morris, D Vidot, K Stanley, M Cooper, J Nightingale, J Soward, B Hornby (c), D Hunt, M Rein, T Merrin, B Scott, B Creagh, D Young.
Bench: N Fien, J Latimore, L Ah Mau, J Marketo, J de Belin, C Stanley.
[Team Changes - Nathan Fien returns from injury on the bench for Cameron King, while Trent Merrin starts at prop for Jeremy Latimore who goes to the bench. Otherwise there are only two new faces to the bench with Chase Stanley and Leeson Ah Mau added. ]
THURSDAY GAME PREVIEW
Listen to the Podcast for a full preview, but we like the Sea Eagles. Look Manly might've been dusted by the Panthers last week but the Dragons had all sorts of trouble beating the Eels, take Manly at home..
TIPPING AND FANTASY LATE MAIL
SMH and Other Late Mail - Kieran Foran should play but Jason King remains in doubt. George Rose could start, while Vic Mauro would come into the 17. Anthony Watmough is expected to play despite a neck injury. The Dragons will choose their bench before kickoff...  while Jack de Belin could start for Dean Young.
THE NRL TWEET'S PICK
Sea Eagles by 6.
