Rick O'Shea's contribution to the Get This Legacy - August 2009

Something quite different for your consumption here on wdnicolson.blogspot.com today, with a 'comedy sketch' that sees Fast FM Radio DJ Rick O'Shea interview comedians Tony Martin & Ed Kavalee about the launch this week of a new Triple M Breakfast Show in Sydney called 'The Grill Team'. Those of you who were lucky enough to have discovered Martin, Kavalee and the late Richard Marsland's brilliant radio show 'Get This' when it ran on Triple M in 2006 and 2007 - will get 99% of the jokes in this sketch. Those of you who have no idea who any of the people named above are, take a listen anyway as the sketch follows a method Tony Martin was the king of - taking quotes from celebrities/politicians/newsreaders and cutting his leading questions in, to make it sound like they are answering that actual question. His work with tech guru Matt Dwyer leave my efforts for dead but after reading the thoughts of Austereo Program Director Gus Dobson (as he was called in 'The Guide' from the Sydney Morning Herald this week) about his new Breakfast Show team of Mark Geyer, Stuart McGill and Gus Worland - I just felt Martin and Kavalee deserved the right of reply to Dobson's notion that this new breakfast team gave the Triple M audience exactly what it wanted. You can download the 5 minute podcast here or http://tiny.cc/getthissketch (there will be a video uploaded to watch directly on the site in the next 24 hours) Please Note: the comments by Tony Martin, Ed Kavalee and Richard Marsland in the sketch are lifted from Get This Podcast #44 and are re-arranged for the purposes of comedy only, not truth. Enjoy.
